Child & Youth Therapy Services
At New Mindset Therapy, we understand that children and teens experience the world in unique and complex ways. Emotional struggles, behavioural changes, and life transitions can be confusing—not only for the young person, but also for their family. Our clinicians are specially trained to work with children and youth through age-appropriate, trauma-informed, and evidence-based therapies that support healing, growth, and resilience.
Supporting Resilient Futures—One Young Mind at a Time
Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, school stress, self-esteem, emotional regulation, or trauma, we create a compassionate and engaging space where they feel safe to explore, express, and thrive.
All child and youth services are offered exclusively at our Cornwall office.
Ages We Work With
- Children (ages 5–12)
- Teens & Adolescents (ages 13–18)
- Families & Caregivers
Play Therapy
Play is a child’s natural language. This therapy allows children to express emotions, explore relationships, and make sense of their world through play, fostering insight, emotional release, and healing.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Youth (CBT)
Adapted for children and teens, CBT helps identify negative thought patterns, build coping strategies, and improve emotional regulation for issues like anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
Attachment-Based Therapy
Supports children who struggle with trust, connection, or emotional expression. Strengthens secure relationships and helps families repair and deepen emotional bonds.
Art & Creative Expression Therapy
For children who may not have the words to express what they’re feeling, art becomes a safe and creative outlet for healing, especially in grief, trauma, or identity exploration.
Mindfulness & Self-Regulation Skills
Teach calming techniques like breathing, visualization, and grounding. Ideal for youth experiencing stress, impulsivity, anxiety, or difficulty staying present.
Narrative Therapy
Helps youth explore and re-author their stories—particularly useful for those struggling with bullying, identity, trauma, or personal challenges. Builds resilience and self-worth.
Somatic & Polyvagal-Informed Therapy (for older youth)
Focuses on body-based awareness to help teens understand and regulate their nervous system. Supports those feeling overwhelmed, shut down, or constantly "on edge."
Parent Coaching & Collaborative Family Sessions
Because children don’t heal in isolation, we involve caregivers as partners in the process. Learn tools to co-regulate, communicate effectively, and support your child’s emotional development.
Group Therapy & Social Skills Training
Small group sessions help youth build connection, confidence, and communication skills. Encourages healthy peer interactions and emotional expression in a supportive setting.
